About Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gas:

Nikkiso CEIG has six separate functional units, and this position will be with the Nikkiso Energy Infrastructure & Strategic Projects (NESP).  NESP offers turnkey solutions for energy infrastructure plants including geothermal plants, compressed hydrogen distribution systems, energy recovery solutions, and offshore marine fueling systems.

 

Project Overview:

The LNG project is based in the Caribbean as part of Joint Venture with a large customer. The schedule is very fast paced, and the engineering deliverables are expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Nikkiso’s role is to serve as the lead integrator, equipment provider, and overall design authority which includes technical SMEs. 

Responsibilities

Role Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Engineer to play a crucial role in our LNG project focused on streamlining and managing timesheet processes for our sub-vendors and internal engineering teams. You will be responsible for tracking project costs related to time and effort, ensuring accurate reporting to finance, identifying potential cost overruns, and providing valuable insights to the project team. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of project cost control principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Timesheet Cost Tracking and Analysis:
    • Maintain timesheets for tracking sub-vendors and engineering within the project framework.
    • Regularly review and analyze timesheet submissions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project budgets and contractual agreements.
    • Identify and investigate any discrepancies or anomalies in timesheet data and work with relevant personnel to resolve them.
  • Budget Control and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the maintenance of project budgets related to consultant and engineering time.
    • Monitor actual costs against the budget, providing monthly variance analysis and explanations.
    • Forecast hours based on timesheet data and project schedules.
    • Identify potential cost overruns and proactively communicate these risks to the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Provide weekly reports by disciple to the customer for review and approval.
    • Prepare regular and ad-hoc cost reports, summaries, and presentations for project management and stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate and organized project cost documentation, including timesheet records, cost analyses, and reports.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of cost control processes and procedures related to timesheet management.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with project managers, engineering leads, consultants, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely cost information.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding cost-related matters, providing clear and concise explanations.
    • Participate in project meetings to provide cost updates and insights.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in cost control, cost engineering, project accounting, or a similar role, preferably within a technical project environment.
  • Strong understanding of project cost management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet software) for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with project management software and/or timesheet management systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Liquid Natural Gas or industrial gas industry.
