Job Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner will serve as a liaison between upper management, the human resources department, and employees to develop, enact, and monitor human resources initiatives and programs across business lines. This is a highly dynamic role, balancing direct oversight of HR efforts and employee relations with long-term strategic direction and implementation of employee hiring and retention plans to enhance business performance and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures; maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Consult regularly with management and provide guidance when appropriate.
  • Participate in job fairs and recruiting efforts to identify and educate applicants about job openings; collaborate with departmental managers to understand hiring needs.
  • Oversee new employee orientation, including the creation of building access (if required) and setting up personal records and intranet access.
  • Provide training for new employees regarding company policies, confidentiality requirements, payroll structures and the specifications and details of respective benefits packages.
  • Analyze industry data to create payroll structures that accurately reflect an employee’s experience, daily responsibilities and level of management; use benchmarking data to verify that salaries are competitive with what other companies are offering.
  • Coordinate benefits packages and ensure that employees understand how to use their benefits to eliminate under-utilized resources or misunderstandings.
  • Assists with processing of terminations; outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary.
  • Assists with the preparation and management of the performance review process.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Report and present regularly to executive management to assess how effectively human resource initiatives are enabling organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the human resources department to develop policies, programs, and solutions.
  • Undertake all responsibilities with a superior commitment to ethical practices, integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.
