Job Overview

The Business Unit Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for the development and execution of the Unit’s global people strategy.  This leader is a key member of the Business Unit Leadership Team, the CEIG Group Management Team, and the Senior HR Leadership Team.  The role reports directly to the BU President with a Functional reporting line to the EVP Human Resources.  This is a highly strategic role, balancing oversight of HR initiatives and employee relations with the development and execution of long-term strategies to provide a world class employee experience, achieve business objectives, and enhance profitability.

Nikkiso CEIG is a product-driven market-focused global business which operates through a matrixed organizational structure.  The Business Unit VPHR serves as a liaison between corporate executive leadership, Business Unit management, site level leadership, and employees to drive HR initiatives and programs across business lines. This leader will facilitate cooperation across the Group in regards to people resources and activities in collaboration with Senior HR Leadership Team members. Where the Business Unit President is appointed as Chairman for a Legal Entity, the HRVP will provide senior HR leadership for that location on behalf of all businesses operating at that site, in collaboration with the relevant HR leaders.  In this capacity, the HRVP represents all business lines to ensure successful people operations. 

This position will work collaboratively with Nikkiso, CEIG Corporate, Business Unit and Entity HR team members to establish and maintain policy, program and initiative development and deployment.  The HRVP will be a champion of the ‘One Nikkiso’ culture and defend our values.

Compensation: $138,530 to $192,834 annual salary plus bonus opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Business Unit HR Strategy and provide leadership and expert advice to management and employees. 
  • Responsible for the actions and activities of all Business Unit HR staff globally.  Also responsible for partnerships with leaders of entities hosting the employment of Business Unit employees to ensure their needs are satisfied in an appropriate and compliant manner.
  • Manage transitions and drive change while developing culture to optimize Business Unit development.
  • Oversee HR policy and procedures and maintain compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Consult regularly with Corporate and Business Unit leadership and provide advice and guidance when appropriate.  Collaborate with Nikkiso HQ HR team as needed to support company-wide objectives.
  • Support and collaborate with Corporate HR Operations to drive consistency and compliance with Group policy, procedure, process, systems, programs and practices.   
  • Report and present regularly to Corporate leadership an assessment of the effectiveness of human resource initiatives and their impact on organizational objectives.
  • Perform analysis on the business unit workforce to assess efficiency, diversity, and key trends to drive awareness and improvement.  Collaborate with other BU HRVPs to develop a scorecard template that can be shared across the Group. 
  • Collaborate with Senior HR Leadership on policy & program development and delivery, strategy, harmonization, system implementations and problem-solving.
  • Identify employee learning needs, establish development plans, ensure compliance training is completed, and collaborate with the Director of Talent & Organizational Development on global initiatives and learning content development.
  • Drive the performance management process, including manager training, to achieve 100% completion of annual reviews, and follow up for performance improvement. 
  • Lead the Business Unit’s Talent Management Process (TMP) to identify and develop key staff, build and execute succession plans, and establish strategies to fill gaps in the talent pipeline.
  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues, coach managers and employees on performance improvement, conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary, and implement strategies to maximize employee retention.   
  • Collaborate with leaders to understand current and future hiring needs globally and drive Talent Acquisition, site level HR, and local resources to meet those needs.
  • Influence decision-making at all levels with the courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages.
  • Execute all responsibilities with a superior commitment to ethical practices, integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably with emphasis in both human resources and business management.
  • Ten years’ experience in human resources, with at least five in leadership roles.
  • Global HR experience.
  • Experienced in developing HR strategy.
  • Knowledge of general employment law, compliance, and conducting sensitive investigations.
  • Experience operating in a highly matrixed organization.
  • HR certification preferred, but not required.
  • Keen cultural awareness. International experience a plus.
  • Proven expertise in relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation: $138,530 to $192,834 annual salary plus bonus opportunity.
