Job Overview

The electrical and control engineer is responsible for the in accordance with the project specifications/standards and in coordination with the other engineering disciplines. Responsible for the design and successful operation of the complete control system, PLC programing and FAT testing. Coordinating with the project manager to ensure the control system documents and drawings are released within the project timeframe and per projects specification requirements while maintaining high quality and accuracy. Documenting designs and specifications. Being updated on the latest instrumentation and control systems standards and products.  The Instrument and control design engineer will provide innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical, instrumentation, and control system architecture for engineered equipment (pumps, turbines, turboexpanders).
  • Preparation of the models, drawings, and documentation (P&IDs, control narratives, schematics, test procedures, etc.) as required to meet project requirements.
  • Preparation of the project bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Preparation purchasing specifications for electrical and control components, i.e., instruments, motors and generators, control panels, electric heater, PLC, UPS system and other components.
  • Review and comment on job specifications.
  • Communicate as vendors and customer engineering teams as needed to ensure project specification compliance.
  • Have a strong understanding of product instrumentation and control design process for turbo machine control system and component selection based on the job specific requirements.
  • Have a strong knowledge of design and CAD drafting practice.
  • Interact confidently with Engineering team, sales, and application groups and providing accurate technical information.
  • Review and maintain the latest revision and documentation.
  • Possible traveling to customer sites if requested by engineering.
  • Domestic & International travel as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years’ minimum experience working as an instrument and control engineer especially in turbo machinery.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), UL, International Electrical Standards (IEC) , CE Directives, ATEX, etc., ISA Standards, Hazardous codes, CSA electrical panel safety codes and SIS
  • Application of the above standards to cryogenic pumps and turboexpander control systems.
  • Demonstrate excellence interpersonal skills including communication, maturity, accountability, be a self-starter, have a positive make-happen attitude, to be able to handle multiple tasks, and be a team player.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-improve.
  • Proficient with PLC and HMI programming.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks) strongly preferred.
  • AutoCAD Electrical strongly preferred.

Work Environmental and Physical Demands:

  • In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls
  • Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include week days, weekends, nights and/or holidays

 Environmental Safety Requirements

 

New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety Awareness

  • All safety related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Director
  • Job specific training modules deemed necessary by employee’s Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis
  • Employees are required to wear Nikkiso provided PPE as/when needed. PPEs include, safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats & dust masks. Failure to comply with Nikkiso safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
