Job Overview

The U.S. Trade Compliance Manager will provide guidance and direction to the Group companies to ensure their transactions are compliant with all applicable U.S. export and import laws. This will be a highly dynamic role, balancing oversight of the trade compliance process and minimizing risks to the Group with long-term strategic direction to enhance business performance and profitability. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive trade compliance strategies, policies, and operational frameworks aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements across all Group business units while minimizing the impact on business requirements.
  • Ensure that the business units’ transactions comply with the applicable U.S. laws and regulations and internal procedures through review, screening, and approval of transactional requests for export and import shipments, exports of technical data, foreign travel, and foreign visits.
  • Complete commodity jurisdiction and classification determinations and make judgments regarding applicability of exceptions and exemptions.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of export license applications.
  • Maintain applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Train the Group’s employees on the applicable U.S. export and import laws and regulations and the employees’ roles in trade compliance.
  • Administer the Group’s trade-related SaaS solutions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and inform the business units as needed.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the Group’s companies worldwide on trade compliance questions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business Administration, International Business, Supply Chain/Logistics, or similiar field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in global trade compliance, ideally with a manufacturing company
  • Proficiency with the assessment and application of U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and the applicable trade sanctions, as well as commodity classification determinations.
  • Expertise in conducting restricted party screenings and using government websites such as ACE AESDirect, SNAP-R and DECCS
  • An understanding of the export control regimes in the EU and Asia, including the various sanctions currently in place against Russia, is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, including the ability to exercise diplomacy and sound judgment in challenging situations.
  • Excellent problem solving, strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as well as under pressure, in handling multiple competing tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Annual Salary Range: $91,128 - $170,032
